The sun Rose and set over Equestria as it always had day in and day out. Princess Celestia watched over the day while her younger sister, Princess Luna, watched over the night.

One day, while Celestia was doing her duties, Luna started to feel almost the way she did over a millennium ago before she was banished to the moon. Though she was reformed and promised never to turn evil again. Luna decided to approach her older sister and lament.

"Celestia?" she said. "We need to talk. I'm rather disappointed over having to watch over the night. I understand that we have our duties to watch over day and night respectively, hence our names. It's just that I never get to watch the ponies play. They always sleep. The only time I ever get to see them play and actually interact with them is on Nightmare Night. Isn't there any chance I can watch the ponies play and possibly visit them when it's day?"

Princess Celestia heard Luna's words. She didn't want to say no, even though that was the answer. Then again, she thought of the many times she spent with Twilight Sparkle and her friends and how they always treated her. While it was the proper way to treat a princess, it was getting old.

Celestia said to Luna, "I understand how you feel, sister. I, myself, am getting tired of my life as well. Just because I am a princess, every pony has to treat me with respect. For many years, I've always wondered what it would be like to be treated like a normal pony and not like royalty."

"I see we are very much in the same boat," said Luna.

"Go back to rest, my sister," said Celestia. "Maybe someday, I will come up with a plan for both of us to get what we want."

As Luna returned to her tower, Celestia continued to do her duties for the day. When the day was finally over, she finally had a little bit of time to herself before turning in for the night. She decided to read a chapter in a book that was written by one of her ancestors from Saddle Arabia. The chapter involved a princess wandering around the streets in disguise. After finishing the chapter, Celestia got an idea but wasn't sure how to pull it off exactly. She decided to sleep on it.

The next morning, Luna came into Celestia's room.

"Rise, my sister," she said. "It is time for your royal duties while I rest."

Celestia knew that that wasn't happening today. Overnight, she was planning in her head something very out of the ordinary for her and her sister to do.

"Luna, the time has come for us to have our wishes granted," Celestia said. "I will be treated like a normal pony, and you will get to see the ponies play...and possibly interact with them."

Hearing this got Luna excited, but at the same time, confused. "Whatever do you mean, dear sister?" she asked.

"Today, you and I are going to make a little visit to Ponyville," Celestia smiled.

Before they departed, Celestia told all of her servants in Canterlot to keep their visit a secret from every pony and not announce anything or make it seem grand.  Celestia took Luna on an alternate route where they would not be spotted so easily and would not draw so much attention from other ponies.

They arrived just outside of Ponyville but hid in a place where there were lots of bushes and trees.

"Now remember, sister," said Celestia, "The ponies must not recognize us. We are visiting undercover."

The princess casted a spell that made appear a hat, and a very large trench coat.

Still very confused, Luna asked, "Which one of us is wearing this disguise? It can't possibly be mine. It is even too big for you. And shouldn't we need a second one as well?"

"This one disguise is all we are going to need, Luna," Celestia explained. "I am also aware that it's very large for me alone. That's why you are wearing it with me."  She magically transferred the parts of the disguise onto her. Then, she attempted to climb onto Luna's back.

Luna stumbled as Celestia mounted herself onto her back. "What's the big idea?" she asked.

"This is how the plan is supposed to work," Celestia answered.

Struggling over her sister's weight, Luna asked, "How come I have to be on the bottom? You're a lot bigger and heavier than me. Shouldn't I be on top?"

"Luna, you need to understand," Celestia explained. "You must be on the bottom because you can't be seen during the day. I know this may be a lot of weight on your back, but please try to hang in there."

Luna sighed, "Okay. I'll try."

Celestia casted a spell on herself so she wouldn't be too recognized. She made her horn invisible and made her mane look more like a regular mane rather than a flowing wave.

Before Luna could start walking into Ponyville, she felt her nose itch. She started at a sneeze. Thinking quickly, Celestia stopped Luna's sneeze by putting her hoof under her nose. Thankfully, it worked. "Thanks," Luna sighed of relief.  It's a good thing she stopped it. Who knows what Luna's sneeze would have caused. So with that taken care of, Celestia closed up the coat, and Luna processed into Ponyville with Celestia atop her and in their disguise.
Here's a new MLP fanfiction I'm working on. This was somewhat suggested to me by anonymoususer10. Sadly, this is all I have so far. I currently have writer's block as to what will happen next, but feel free to send me a private message if you have any suggestions!

I didn't expect this to be a Totem Pole Trench story.
